Japan Airlines (JAL) and Garuda Indonesia have announced they will launch their joint business covering flights between Japan and Indonesia on April 1.
“Following the expansion of our cooperation in October 2024, Garuda Indonesia and Japan Airlines are committed to provide enhanced flight services to passengers through extensive integrated flight schedules, featuring seamless connections between Indonesia and Japan,” the Japanese and Indonesian carriers said in a statement.
The joint business partnership will enable JAL and Garuda Indonesia will cover commercial cooperation including flight bookings between both carriers, frequent flier benefits, and other business activities.
Over 34 routes in Japan and Indonesia will now be covered. JAL customers will be able to make domestic connections within Indonesia on Garuda Indonesia-operated flights from Jakarta and Denpasar (Bali) to cities including Kuala Namu, Manado, Lombok, Surabaya, Yogyakarta, Padang, Banda Aceh, and Balikpapan. JAL-operated routes from Tokyo (Haneda/Narita) to domestic destinations such as Nagoya, Osaka (Itami/Kansai), Okinawa, Hiroshima, and Hakodate are also included.

Between Japan and Indonesia, Garuda Indonesia operates flights on the Haneda-Jakarta, and Narita-Denpasar routes. JAL operates flights between from Narita and Jakarta.
